Issue:
How to quickly select a set of geometries based on criteria such as total volume less than 2000 or the same color?
Solution:
ZW3D provides two powerful tools for rapid selection.
Method A
Attribute Filter: Selects objects by color, layer, or feature type.
Click the Attribute Filter button to open the Attribute Filter window.
- In the window, choose an attribute (e.g., Color) and pick the desired color. The selected color is added to the selection set.
Multiple attributes can be applied simultaneously - Use cross selection to quickly filter geometries.
Method B:
Geometry conditional search: Selects geometries based on area, volume, angle, radius, or other numerical properties.
- In the ZW3D search bar, type Geometry conditional search and click the search result.
- In the dialog, configure the search criteria:
Searching geometry type: Shape / Face / Hole / Edge / Plane / Fillet / Chamfer
Search range: Use cross selection to define the scope
Conditional range: e.g., Volume between 50-5000 (criteria vary by geometry type)
Click Find matching geometries – results appear in the list. Double‑click a result to zoom to and highlight it.
- Click Select all to add matching geometries to the current selection.
- Check Create a new pick set, enter a name, then click OK.
- The new pick set will display in the Pick Set folder on the history tree. The pick set can be reused for modeling.
