Issue:

How to quickly select a set of geometries based on criteria such as total volume less than 2000 or the same color?

Solution:

ZW3D provides two powerful tools for rapid selection.

Method A
Attribute Filter: Selects objects by color, layer, or feature type.

  1. Click the Attribute Filter button to open the Attribute Filter window.

  2. In the window, choose an attribute (e.g., Color) and pick the desired color. The selected color is added to the selection set.

Multiple attributes can be applied simultaneously
  3. Use cross selection to quickly filter geometries.

Method B:

Geometry conditional search: Selects geometries based on area, volume, angle, radius, or other numerical properties.

  1. In the ZW3D search bar, type Geometry conditional search and click the search result.
  2. In the dialog, configure the search criteria:

Searching geometry type: Shape / Face / Hole / Edge / Plane / Fillet / Chamfer

Search range: Use cross selection to define the scope

Conditional range: e.g., Volume between 50-5000 (criteria vary by geometry type)

  3. Click Find matching geometries – results appear in the list. Double‑click a result to zoom to and highlight it.

  4. Click Select all to add matching geometries to the current selection.
  5. Check Create a new pick set, enter a name, then click OK.
  6. The new pick set will display in the Pick Set folder on the history tree. The pick set can be reused for modeling.
