Issue:
Why does the Common Dialog Places Bar disappear after switching to the Windows dialog box for opening files?
Solution:
Configure the setting in the Local Group Policy Editor:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Enter gpedit.msc and click OK.
- Go to User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → File Explorer → Common Open File Dialog.
- Find Hide the common dialog places bar.
- Set the policy to Not Configured or Disabled.
