Issue:
How to customize the thread in ZW3D?
Solution:
- Create a new .Z3SKH file(note: naming must not include special characters such as spaces, *, or other operator symbols).
- Take the triangle section as an example:
Draw a triangle and add the corresponding dimensions and constraints. Note that the distance from this profile to the sketch's vertical axis will align with the rotation axis of the cylindrical face selected when using the Thread command later (see the 2.5mm dimension in the figure). - Double-click the 2.5mm dimension, remember the dimension code is d1, and check the option Enlist in equation manager.
All dimensions added to the Equation Manager can be driven by a table file, allowing them to update with thread command size changes; other dimensions will remain fixed. - Save the sketch to the ZW3D thread library path, then close it.
The thread library is under the installation path of ZW3D: - In the sketch save path, create an Excel file with the same name as the .Z3SKH file. The table must include columns for Size and Pitch.
Size corresponds to the selectable thread sizes in the thread command.
Pitch corresponds to the thread pitch and automatically matches the selected thread size.
The remaining column headers should be filled with the dimension names added to the Equation Manager in Step 3. Here, enter d1(the dimension code of the driving dimension) in column C. If there are more dimensions, add them to a further column of the Excel table. - Restart ZW3D. The newly added triangle thread can be located by clicking Shape → Thread.
