Issue: 

Normally, the ZLevel generates the toolpaths as below; the tool direction is oriented along the Z-axis.

In some cases, due to the limitations of the tool holder, it is impossible to machine to a deeper region. At this point, a 5-axis machining method can be adopted to avoid this problem.

So, how to switch it to the 5-axis control?

Solution:

  1. Click Advanced → Axis Control → 5X Fixed Lead/Roll, then set the Lead Angle or Roll Angle according to your requirement. (Please see the images below to understand the Lead angle and roll angle.)
  2. Click Path Setting, and set the Climb/Conventional/Left/Right as the Cut Direction.
    (Note: Axis control only supports the following cut direction options: Climb, Conventional, Left, and Right.)
  3. Click Link and Lead, and set Optimized/Clearance as the Short/Long Link Type.
    (Note: Axis control only supports the following Lead/Link options: Arc_Line, Optimized, Clearance.)
  4. Finally, Calculate to get a 5-axis control toolpaths as below.

Note: This option is already included in the 3X module; it doesn't need the 5X license.
