Issue:
When converting a point cloud file in ZWCAD, the error message Data conversion failed! appears.
What causes this issue, and how to convert the point cloud file?
Causes:
By default, converted point cloud files are stored on the C drive. Possible causes include:
- The disk has run out of space
- Insufficient write permissions for the current Windows user
- Special characters in the point cloud conversion path
- An older version of ZWCAD (e.g., ZWCAD 2024)
Solution:
- Check the cache path for special characters.
The path can be found under Options → File → Point Cloud Cache File Location. - Ensure sufficient disk space on the drive where the cache is stored.
- Verify write permissions for the current user at the cache location.
Right-click on the folder and click on Properties → Security. Ensure that all the permissions listed are set to Allow. - Update to the latest version of ZWCAD and retry the import.
Workaround: If conversion fails repeatedly, copy the RCS file from another device where conversion succeeded into the Point Cloud Cache File Location folder, then import it directly into ZWCAD.
