Issue:
How to customize the Bend table in ZW3D?
Solution:
The Bend table(and other Bend templates) is located in the SMD_K_FACTOR_TABLE folder under the installation path of ZW3D:
Copy the files to create new templates or edit them directly.
Editing Rules:
- Only yellow cells are recognized by ZW3D
- Multiple tables can be included within a single Excel file:
- Unit: Available units are MM, CM, M, Inch, Feet.
- Material:
(1) ALL is the default. If the material used in ZW3D is not listed, the K‑factor will be taken from the ALL table.
(2) Material names must match those in ZW3D (case‑insensitive: Aluminum = aluminum)
(3) Multiple materials can share the same table: - Angle/Radius/Thickness:
(1)Cell format: General or Fraction.
(2)K-factor cell:
A: If a value is not found but falls within the defined range → linear interpolation is used
B: If a value is outside the defined range → the nearest K‑factor value is used
Example: Thickness =1, Radius=0.5, and the bend table is shown below:
If bend angle ≤ 45, K-factor=0.56(Follow method A, outside defined range, nearest is 45)
If 45 < bend angle < 90, K-factor=0.56+(0.23-0.56)*(angle-45)/(90-45) (Follow method B, Linear interpolation between 0.56 and 0.23)
If 90 ≤ bend angle, K-factor=0.23 (Follow method A, outside defined range, nearest is 90)
Applying the Custom Bend Table
- Save the Excel file and close it.
- Open ZW3D, then click Sheet Metal Attributes in Tools.
- In the K-factor, pick the Bend table in the Type drop-down menu and select the corresponding file.
- Click OK.
