Issue:

How to deal with the layers in the drawings that do not meet the specified standards?

Solution:

The layer translator can be used to translate the layers to those that meet the standards.

  1. Execute LAYTRANS to open the Layer Translator dialog box.

  2. On the left, under the Translate From window, are the original layers in the current file. Click the Load button to select the standard file, it can be a DWG/DWT format file, and the layers on the right side under Translate To window are the ones in the standard file after loading.

  3. If the layers with the same name apply to the same standard, click the Map same button to complete the mapping, and they will be listed in the Layer Translation Mappings window below.

  4. Select the original layers that need to be mapped on the left; it supports single select, or hold down the Ctrl or Shift key to multi-select. Apart from that,  text + wildcard format in the Selection Filter is also supported, such as inputting T*, then clicking the Select button, all layers with T in the layer name will be selected. Then select the target layer on the right, click the Map button to map one or multiple layers in the current file to a standard layer.

  5. After setting all the layers that need to be mapped, if there are still layers on the left, and the icons in front of these layers are white (shown as below), it means that these layers are empty and useless. Right-click on the layer list on the left, and select Purge Layers in the right-click menu to clean up these useless layers.

  6. After setting the layer translation mappings, click the Save button to save this setting as a DWG or DWT file for next use.

  7. Click the Settings button to set the corresponding rules while translating, such as whether to force object color to Bylayer, then click OK.

  8. After the above settings, click the Translate button to translate the original layers and settings of the current drawing into standard layer settings as required.

  9. To translate the other files with the same original layer standards, just click Load button to reuse the mapping file saved in step 6, and click the Translate button directly.
