Issue:
When creating multiline text, a text box is displayed along with a ruler at the top, as shown in the figure below.What is the purpose of this ruler?
Solution:
Adjust width
Drag the diamond-shaped icon at the far right end of the ruler to adjust the overall width of the multiline text, as shown in the figure below.Dragging the lower-right corner of the text box, adjusts both the width and height of the text simultaneously,as shown in the figure below.
First Line Indent
After selecting a text paragraph, drag the small arrow at the upper left to adjust the first line indent distance of the paragraph, as shown in the figure below.Hanging Indent
After selecting a text paragraph, drag the arrow at the lower left of the ruler to set the hanging indent distance,as shown in the figure below.Right Indent
After selecting a text paragraph, drag the arrow at the lower right of the ruler to indent the entire paragraph from the right side, as shown in the figure below.Change Tab Stop Type
The leftmost end of the ruler displays a tab stop icon, Clicking this button switches the tab stop style.
The default is Left-aligned, which can be switched to Right-aligned or Center-aligned, as shown in the figure below.Add Tab Stops
After selecting the desired tab stop style, clicking on the ruler adds a tab stop.
Multiple clicks add multiple tab stops.
Added tab stops can be dragged to adjust their position, as shown in the figure below.After adding tab stops to a selected line, pressing the TAB key between words moves the text to the next tab stop.
If a tab stop was added to the wrong line or an extra tab stop was added, click and hold the tab stop on the ruler and drag it outside the ruler area to delete it.
