Issue: 

When creating a new drawing, the following dialog box appears.
How set the default unit to metric or imperial as needed?

Solution:

The system variable MEASUREINIT controls the default unit when creating a new drawing.

Enter the command MEASUREINIT and press Enter.

Set the value to 0 for imperial or 1 for metric.

Note: This setting must be used in conjunction with the STARTUP system variable

and only takes effect when the Create New Drawing dialog box appears during new file creation.
