Issue:
How to get a floating license on the client side from the server.
Solution:
Before getting the Floating License, please confirm the following:
- The software type and annual version installed on the client side match the license.
- The server has been properly configured with the Network License Manager, and the network license is successfully activated.
- The client computer can connect to the server.

Here, using ZWCAD 2026 as an example (ZWCAD and ZW3D share the same licensing system, and the license activation method is universal):
- Click START → ALL PROGRAMS → ZWSOFT → ZWCAD 2026 → License Manager to open the ZWCAD License Management dialog box.
- Click the Activate License button to open the Activate ZWCAD License page.
- On the Activate License list, click Request a Floating License to display the Floating License – Soft Key page. Enter the license server Server Name/IP and Port. Then, click QUERY to display all available licenses on the server. Expand the list to select one.
Tip: Enter the server name or LAN IP address of the machine that provides the network license. You can run LMTOOLS.EXE on the server side and check the System Settings tab to find “Computer/Hostname” and “IP Address.”
If the server is configured in redundant mode, click CONFIGURE ONLY (DO NOT QUERY). Enter the names or LAN IP addresses of the three servers in SERVER NAME/IP, separated by “;”. The order does not matter. Note that this page does not support querying available licenses. - Click Activate to complete the activation process.
