Issue:

Sometimes the existing Weldment library does not meet the requirements and needs to be redefined. How to customize the weldment library in ZW3D?

Solution:

  1. Open the software installation directory as below figure (the picture shows the default installation path. The actual installation path is prevail), which is the weldment library directory.
The folders in the directory, correspond to the standard options in structural components(If multiple languages are installed, there will exist multiple standard folders).
We can create a new folder in this directory to add new standards.
  2. Take the cold-formed Z-shaped steel in the GB as an example.
The cold-formed Z-shaped steel.Z3 file in the GB folder corresponds to the size under the structural component.
  3. To create a new weldment type, click Sketch to enter the sketch environment and draw a profile of the weldment.
In the figure, the position number 1 is the origin point and position number 2 are positioning contour points. When the structural component is used, it corresponds to serial number 3 and serial number 4 respectively.
  4. Create a new folder, and create a .Z3 file under this folder.
After the definition is completed, return to ZW3D and use the Weldment → Structural Member to check the profile, we can see the new standards and types are added.
