Issue:

Some polyline graphics that look the same have different area and length values in the properties panel.

As shown below, the two polylines in the picture look the same but have different area and length values, with one being twice the other. What's the reason?

Causes:

By checking the vertices of the polylines in the properties panel, you'll find the answer.

The left polyline has 6 vertices, while the right one has 12 vertices.

On each straight segment, there's a segment overlapping, causing the area and length to differ from the left one.

Solution:

You can resolve this issue using the Delete Duplicates Objects feature.

  1. Go to the menu Express Tools → Modify → Delete Duplicate Objects (use the OVERKILL command).
  2. Select the objects and use the default settings to eliminate the duplicate graphics.
