Issue:

If the coordinate system needs to be converted, how to convert the coordinate system in ArcGIS? 

Solution:

Before converting coordinate system, we need to assign coordinate system first:

  1. Open ArcGIS on the Ribbon and find the dropdown menu in Coordinate System, click Assign Coordinate System;

    or click ArcGIS on the menu, and select Assign Coordinate System (shortcut command: ESRI_COORDINATESYSTEM).
  2. Select Geographic from the dropdown menu from Type and change it to Geographic.
  3. Type to search the required coordinate, for example, type in Xian in the search bar will find XIAN 1980 WKID:4610 in Coordinate Systems.
  4. Click Set to finish the assign coordinate.
  5. Click Convert Coordinate System on the Ribbon or find Convert Coordinate System from ArcGIS on the menu (shortcut command: ESRI_SWITCHCS).

  6. Click step 1 refer to below image to browse a path to save the coordinate conversion, and click save to save the file.
  7. Click Output coordinate system, select Geographic from dropdown menu from Type.
  8. Input the required coordinate to be converted, for example, type in Beijing in the search bar will find BEIJING 1954 WKID:4214 in Coordinate Systems, then click Confirm.
  9. Click OK to finish the conversion.
