Issue:

How to elevate ZWCAD's performance without replacing your current hardware?

Solution:

Everyone has their own setting preference. A proper setting can effectively improve the performance of ZWCAD.

  • Properly set the shortcut keys and remember the commonly used shortcut keys, develop the operation habit of using keyboard and mouse with two hands at the same time
  • Try use .SHX the built-in fonts of CAD software
If there is a large amount of text in the drawing using the .TTF font that comes with the Windows system, the system needs to deal with large data demand for displaying and the overall operating performance will be reduced.
  • Choose appropriate hatch pattern and hatch scale
When using Solid for hatching, be sure not to misuse other hatch patterns. Inappropriate use of other hatch patterns with incorrect hatch scales can achieve a SOLID-like effect. However, due to the large number of lines, although it has little impact on the size of the DWG file, it will increase a large amount of demand for the computer to deal with the display data. This will result in a significant reduction in ZWCAD performance.
  • Set the automatic save time appropriately
Do not set the auto-save interval in such a short time, such as 5 minutes. It is best to set it to more than 30 minutes. When the drawing is large enough, automatic saving will take up a lot of time. If the time interval is set too short, frequent automatic saving will have a greater impact on the overall performance.
  • Set appropriate arc display resolution
If display accuracy and resolution are improved by VIEWRES command, each circle or arc will be displayed with more line segments, which will increase the amount of displayed data, thus reducing the performance. It is recommended not to modify the default arc display accuracy.
  • Appropriate switch layers on or off, lock layers appropriately
When a drawing becomes very complex, turning off or locking some layers that interfere with operations can not only improve operation efficiency, but also improve display performance.
  • Turn off some display options to increase the performance of zoom and pan
In the Options dialog box, you can set some display options in the Display tab.
  • Properly set the resolution of inserted raster images
When inserting a raster image, it is best to calculate the resolution of the image based on the size of the final output drawing, and adjust the scale and resolution to meet the requirements. It is not necessary to always require high resolution. High-resolution images have a significant impact on performance, both when displaying and when printing.
