★ZW3D cannot open file created by other software

Issue:

ZW3D cannot open the file created by other software, but according to the data compatibility of ZW3D, it's possible. For example, ZW3D 2024 should be able to open the file created by Inventor 2010 but it cannot open it.

Causes:

There are some possibilities that might cause this problem:

1. The computer is installed with Windows 8 operating system.
2. The version of the file is too old, and the save type of the old version of the file is inconsistent with the save type of the latest version, for example, Inventor 2010 and Inventor 2023.
3. The activation status is not correct.
4. Antivirus software or firewall blocks some applications of ZW3D.
5. Some system programs are missing.
6. Other causes.

Solution:

1. For Windows 8 system:
   Due to the incompatibility of the Windows 8 operating system with many products, it is recommended to replace Windows 8 with Windows 7 or Windows 10 version or higher.
2. For the old file: 
   It's possible, that users have used the old version of other 3D software to create a file, but this software's file format has changed in the latest version, such as Inventor. In this case, we can use the new version of the drawing software(like Inventor 2024) to open the old version of the file and save it, so that ZW3D can open it smoothly.
3. For the incorrect activation status:
   Check whether the license is activated normally and whether the ZW3D version and the license match. If the activation is unsuccessful or the version and the license are not matched, the software is in the trial version state. We can check the title of ZW3D, if it's under trail state, there will be a trail in the title as below figure. In this case, we need to activate the license correctly.
   
4. For the antivirus software and firewall:
   During the installation of ZW3D, antivirus software or firewall might block some applications of ZW3D. It's recommended to uninstall ZW3D and clean up the register, shut the antivirus software and firewall, and then install ZW3D again.
5. For the missing system programs:
   Open the Control Panel of the computer and click on the Program → Programs and Features. Check if "Dassault Systems Software VC9 Prerequisites x86-x64", "Dassault Systems Software VC10 Prerequisites x86-x64", "Dassault Systems Software VC11 Prerequisites x86-x64" programs are installed. If some programs are missing, try to download and install them on the official website of Microsoft or reinstall the operating system.
   
   
   
6. Try to restart the computer and check whether this problem is solved.
