Issue:
When opening upstream drawings and adding dimensions, the new values differ from the original ones.
Why is this happening?
Causes:
This issue is typically caused by the upstream drawing being exported from 3D software.
It can be confirmed by checking the scale information in the title block.
As shown below, the view in the 3D software drawing is scaled by 0.5, while the dimensions are scaled by 2 to maintain the original values.
How to adjust the objects or dimension settings to solve the issue?
Take this case as an example.
Solution:
Solution 1:
Use SCALE command to scale all objects by a factor of 2, then re-dimension.
Solution 2:
- Execute DIMLINEAR command to open Dimension Style Manager.
- Select the target dimesion style, then click Modify.
- In th pop-up window, click Primary Units, then change the Scale factor to 2.
- Create new dimensions.
- After modification, the new dimension value will show correctly.
