Issue:

ZWCAD 2024 and above have enhanced the Trim and Extend functions. The software defaults to Quick mode, which is somewhat different from the regular Trim and Extend operation. So how to switch modes.

Solution:

Trim and Extend operations can set three working modes, namely Standard, Quick, and Enhanced.

  • Standard: Specify the Trim or Extend boundary, Trim or Extend object respectively, and the selected object will be trimmed or extended to the specified boundary.
  • Quick: Specify the Trim or Extend object, and all entities in the graphic will be automatically considered as boundaries to trim or extend the object. When trimming an object in fast mode, if the trimmed object does not intersect with the trimming boundary, it will be deleted directly.
  • Enhanced: Specify the Trim or Extend boundary, and other entities in the graphic will be automatically extended or trimmed to the boundary.
When you specify a hatch as the Trim boundary, in Standard mode, the lines inside the hatch will be used as the actual trimming boundary to trim the object, in Quick mode, the outer boundary of the hatch will be used as the trimming boundary to trim the object, in Enhanced mode, in hatches cannot be selected as Trim boundaries.

Solution one:

Controlled through the TRIMEXTENDMODE system variable.

Solution two:

After clicking the Trim and Extend commands, you can switch modes by entering Mode, and then selecting Quick, Standard, or Enhanced mode according to the specific model required.
