Issue: 

When copying entities from a viewport in layout space to a new file, only the viewport frame is pasted into the new DWG file. How can the complete content of the viewport be copied to another file?

Solution:

The entities displayed in a layout viewport remain in model space. Since the corresponding entities are not present in the model space of the new DWG file, only the viewport itself is copied.

  1. Switch to Model space, select the entities to be copied, and press Ctrl+C.


  2. In the model space of another drawing, right-click and select Paste to Original Coordinates.


  3. Switch to layout space. The layout space content can then be copied to the layout space of the other file.
