Issue:

Why are objects in layout space not editable in ZWCAD??

Solution:

There could be several reasons why objects in layout space cannot be edited.

  1. Determine whether the drawing is an object within or outside the viewport. If the drawing is within the viewport, it can only be edited after entering the viewport; if the drawing is outside the layout space, it cannot be edited within the viewport.

  2. Determine if the layer containing the drawing is locked. In any case, a locked layer is visible but not editable.
  3. Determine whether the drawing is an external reference or a block. If it's a block, please enter the block editor or explode it before editing. If it's an external reference, please modify it in the reference drawing, or bind the external reference before making changes.

  4. If overlapping viewports exists, they can cause users to enter a viewport other than the one containing the drawing, leading to the mistaken belief that the drawing cannot be modified. Select the viewports, press Ctrl+1 to open Properties, and check if multiple viewports exist. If the issue is caused by overlap, consider selecting and deleting individual viewports or moving the viewports away before attempting to edit.
